Vajikarana Sexual Medicine
Vajikarana or Vrishya chikitsa is a branch of ayurveda which deals with sexual dysfunction, infertility and the diseases of male reproductive system. The main aim of the creation is to sustain the offspring. Progeny is very important for the sustainment of that particular race. In ayurveda, it is stated that a man with out progeny is like a tree without leaves and flowers. According to ayurveda, the main aim of vajikarana is to enhance the sexual capacity of a man with different herbs and treatments so that he can have excellent shukra dhatu (semen and its contents), which is the base for the creation of a new life ( female sexual problems and fertility related issues are covered under prasooti tantra-OBG, a special branch of ayurveda which is dedicated for female health).
Before administering Vaajeekarana, proper body cleansing by panchakarma is very important. As it is stated in the text, if the cloth is dirty then one cannot impart the colour on that cloth: likewise, in a dirty body no treatment will work properly including Vaajeekarana. So, body detox is must for any treatment according to ayurveda. Herbs such as kapikachu, ashwaganda,shatavaree,musali, vidarikanda, chandana, Gokshura,bala,jathiphala, karpoora,black cumin,roase,ghee etc are commonly used. Preparations like ashawaganda lehyam,madana kameshwari modakam, goli navab ali, habbe mumsik, laboob sager, laboob Kabir etc are also used.
