Hello
to everyone at the Retreat! I am happy to be home but
missing being there very much as well. All is well with
me back in Florida. I got a job working with an Ayurvedic
Practitioner who does panch karma treatments, he has
a little retreat and yoga center, so I am doing massage
and teaching yoga classes. It feels very good.

I
chose the this Ayurveda Retreat to be treated for several
alignments and was in no way disappointed about my stay
here. The staff and management are excellent. So are
the treatments, food and classes offered. All this in
one of the most beautiful settings I have seen during
my time in India, with pleasant climate and fresh air.
I wish I had the time to stay for 21 days in order to
receive the full benefit from the treatment. I can thoroughly
recommend the Retreat and plan to return in the future.

The
time slips by, but the benefits that I received from
my stay with you are imbedded in my being. Difficult
to explain on what a profound affect resulted-- needless
to say my life is much improved--more enjoyable-- The
loving care from you and all of your staff is of world
class caliber. Ganesh the yoga teacher was very inspiring--as
I have continued my yoga practice deligently.
Dr. Mouli is a fine young doctor--dedicated to the health
and well-being of his patients.
The treatment room boys gave their hearts out--especiall
Baligi--he is a fine young man. I loved the facilities---the
lovely mountain setting--the comfortable bungalows-
and I enjoyed spending time with the many fine people
that you attract. By the way--your cooking is absolutely
delicious--nutritious and satisfying-- although I was
on the weight loss program I never felt deprived. I
was hoping to return by the end of year--however some
unexpected losses in my retirement nest egg will prevent
me from returning now. But for sure I will return sometime
next year--I am budgeting for that. Health is one's
most important asset and I feel blessed to have found
you and hope that I will be welcomed back.
Thank you so much Rekha for all of your good works--you
and your husband made me feel so comfortable with your
warm hospitality- my thoughts and prayers are with you--
I hope all is well--you are very much appreciated--

I have stayed at
the Retreat twice and am planning to return for my third
visit in April of this year. The Ayurvedic Retreat is
one of my favorite places in the world. I go there to
relax, detoxify, and rejuvenate from the stress of western
life. During my visits to the Retreat I have met some
very lovely people from all over the globe including
locals.
A typical day at the retreat begins at 06:00 with the
delivery of any personalized tonic suggested by the
resident ayurvedic physician. The 90-minute Yoga class
begins at 06:30 (this provides a spiritual experience
for me because it seems that the sun salutations are
(somehow) perfectly timed with the sunrise). Following
yoga, there is approximately an hour of 'free-time'
which can be spent taking a mile hike to provide food
for the monkeys or simply just being. Meals are served
'family style' and in the lovely tea garden. The food
is superb with a varied menu (Mohanji and Chagganji
are 'master' chefs). The day's highlight (for me) is
the personalized ayurvedic treatment scheduled by the
physician and his staff and is usually 1-2 hours long.
Treatments are given in complete privacy by specially
trained female staff and usually consist of synchronized
massages with personalized oils. Massages/treatments
are followed by an herbal bath. Yoga is given at 12:00
and at 16:30. Daily Guided meditation classes are usually
and hour long beginning at 18:00. Dinner concludes the
day.
One of the fabulous aspects of this sanctuary is you
may be as engaged or un-engaged in the varied pre-planned
activities as you wish depending on your goals. It has
been my experience that Rehka, Kantilal, and their wonderful
staff work very hard to make the guest's experience
as wonderfully stress-free and memorable as possible.
Ultimately however
the derived experience is the individual's responsibility.
If one goes there with preconceptions such as expectation
of a 5-star resort atmosphere you will be disappointed.
Conversely, if the traveler (not tourist) goes with
an open mind, a kind tongue, and willing heart - I would
think it would be very difficult not to benefit immensely
from a visit to this amazing place.
With kind
regards,
Namaste,
Sandra

Reading this I
hope will convince you, without question, to come to
this wonderful place of rest and rejuvenation. Simply
trust, be willing to let go and allow the angels that
work here, to help you on your unique path to perfect
health, in body, mind and spirit. India is indeed God's
country, but the Ayurveda Retreat Hospital is God's
home, nestled in a perfect mountain side spot close
to heaven.
I have had a truly
incredible time here and have felt so welcome and like
part of a family. The staff make this place what it
is. Everyone is, without exception, respectful, polite
and ready to greet you with a big smile each day. This
is my first experience among truly authentic Indian
people who radiate such love and kindness, which in
itself reflects where you are in your own life.......a
teaching for us all.
My treatment programme
was superb and the beautiful girls who administered
the massages were impeccable and oh so sweet and kind...
felt like a queen every day ! I had access to the Ayurvedic
doctors at any time and could tell them anything and
always received knowledgeable and friendly advise and
help.
Meal times were
always very sociable and the food is yum....always varied
and delicious and the waiters (Chhagan and Siteram)
are so attentive and full of fun. Both great guys !
I soaked up so much knowledge from fellow guests and
had great conversations every day and am heart warmed
to mention that I have made some life long friends.
We laughed and cried together, went for long walks and
watched the sun set over the mountains and oh we shopped
until we dropped, which was always a source of mild
hysteria on returning to the retreat as everyone wanted
to see each other's purchases !
So I leave with
a true temple for a body, a vegetarian diet and a wealth
of wonderful experiences that will take me months to
happily reflect upon.
My advise to you
is... ....open your heart and let this place feed your
soul.....you can find only happiness and peace waiting
for you.
Love
Gina Hardy

Hello, I am very
happy with the results of 5 weeks of ayurvedic treatment
that I had last September-October. I saw the doctor
every day and had ayurvedic medicines six times a day.
I had morning massage and treatments for specific problems
for a half hour almost every afternoon and I saw another
doctor for reflexology and acupressure every other day
all for one price. I am happy to report the following
improvement in my health: My blood is well within normal
range with only two medications instead of three. My
resting pulse ranges between 60 and 70 instead of the
previous 80 to 90 beats per minute. I lost 13.2 pounds
while there and maintained that loss through the Christmas
holidays and continue to drop additional weight slowly.
My shoulder pain is gone and I have regained full range
of motion in that arm. I no longer have a problem of
urinary retention. Leg pains are gone and I have an
increase of flexibility. I just got the results of my
annual blood-work and I am very happy to report that
everything is well within normal range. My blood lipids
have improved greatly. My doctor is impressed with the
changes. My stay with you was very enjoyable. The scenery
was spectacular, the staff with very attentive and caring,
the food was good and I am enjoying cooking some of
the recipes. I felt very pampered during my stay and
the results are long lasting.
Thank you.

My Ayurvada
& Yoga Retreat Experience
I came here on
trust & faith not knowing anything about the retreat
other than the information on the website. Once I arrived
I took a deep breath not believing it was real, it is
even more beautiful than I had imagined. I checked to
see, am I dreaming, am I alive. I connected to nature
instantly, I felt I was in paradise I love the garden
full of beautiful flowers, plants, the greenery, full
of fresh air From there the scenery is so amazing, on
the swing for ages I would just sit and stare The trees
standing tall on the mountains almost touching the sky
Tea plantation all around and I am 3000 feet high
At the silent spot my favourite place, Standing there
feeling the suns rays on my face I stood there like
a tree Connecting to the part of nature that is me Feeling
one with all, the sky, the sun, the flowers & birds
My soul celebrating, communicating without words Everywhere
I looked mountains I could see, this is a place just
to be My soul dancing and singing I’m free Enough space
yet surrounded, enveloped by the mountains and trees
Feeling on top of the world, clouds floating by My hands
nearly touching the sky, Filling my lungs inhaling the
crisp fresh air.
Kantilal & Rekha are truly an a amazing pair Who
have created this lovely place I know they will say
it’s all with God’s grace Rejuvenating & refreshing
the soul, I came here for treatment for the tumour in
my left lung On my first day I knew my healing had begun
Environment where I got healing at all levels, mind,
body, soul It all depends on the person, what they want,
what is their goal The meditations by Senthil are so
powerful, his voice, the vibrations so strong Has the
chakras spinning OM! Shanti! OM! Chaaganlal, Sita Ram
& Mohan the service they provide is so wonderful
& homely, The ayurveda food so fresh and light Delicious,
Every bite Yum! They provide a menu to suit everyone’s
appetite I wish we had doctors like Dr Dulari who listens
and who really cares And Vilaas who without fail our
medicines he carefully prepares The treatments from
two therapists massaging simultaneously, so synchronised
I have had lots of massages in the past but this just
blew me away, I was surprised I came here for
two weeks, another week I then extended my stay Arrangements
were made and I had my way I requested to do a silent
retreat for a few days which was fully supported by
all The staff & guests who were pillars so I did
not fall My experiences have been tremendously enlightening;
I would just sit at the silent spot and mediate to the
mountains, the sun & the sky.
Now that I’m back in England to face the west With healing
from the east, I’m now feeling at my best I’m much calmer
and have a deeper knowing Each day spiritually I’m growing
True healing retreat created with such love & care
For us westerners to heal & share To everyone who
was a part of my healing journey, thank you so much
Hopefully we will all remain in touch.
Love & Light to all

Folks,
Just a quick to let you know I had an enjoyable return
journey home and to thank you for your warmth and hospitality
during my stay at the retreat. Your staff are truly world
class and the retreat's greatest asset. I don't know of
anywhere else that could provide a service as accommodating.
Please pass on my kindest regards to them. The stay has
had a tremendous benefit in broadening my rigid mind set
and improving all aspects of my health.
The treatments: medication; massage; yoga; meditation;
and good food have all benefited me and made me realise,
(despite initial cravings and yearnings) that I don't
really need caffeine or sugar to get through the day.
Lastly if any of my fellow "retreatants" (i.e. Jenny/Mary,
Christina, Caroline, Julia) are still residing at the
retreat, please forward my best wishes. They were all
fantastic people in their own way. I really enjoyed and
benefited from their company.
So, I wish you well and every success.
Best Wishes,
Gavin

I have known the gracious owners and managers
of this retreat, Rekha and Kantilal Chordia, for some
time and I have taken treatment with them twice. What
a treat! They really make you feel at home and they tend
to each and every need you might have. The medical attention
is professional and the treatment pure, ancient, and original.
Having spent many years travelling throughout India these
past 30 years, I would recommend this peaceful resort
to anyone who appreciates the nice things of Mother India.
Incidentally, the pure Indian food is a mix of recipes
from all over India. I've never found this in any other
resort. This place is a must for the real Ayurveda, Yoga
and meditation.

Great people and great place to rejuvenate
and heal. Truly authentic and non commercial ayurveda,
yoga and meditation. I had a very experienced yoga and
meditation teacher twice a day in a family like atmosphere.
Very rare to see people give so much and want little in
return!! I was taken to weddings in their community, visited
places around with the owners personally, they also took
me shopping, sight seeing etc. THey went out of their
way to arrange everything for me from the moment I landed
in India since I was a single woman traveling alone. I
have never seen such service and possibly never will! |

I do not know where to begin thanking you
for the wonderful time I had at your retreat. The 2 weeks
passed so quickly, but it had an excellent effect on me
- not only physically, but also spiritually. You gave
me the opportunity of witnessing some very special events
and people - by taking us to the temple, and also to Ooty
>to meet the Sadhu who had walked all around India. The
people you have working at the centre also help to engender
the feeling of living holistically .Everyone is really
good at their job, but I have to give a special mention
to the Doctor, the Yoga teacher and Delma. Also Mohan
and Chagan who looked after us so well. The food was excellent
and I am still missing it now. Thanks again for everything
- your hospitality, the cooking lessons, the outings,
shopping trips, the chats and snippets of information
on Indian life and local remedies - all the things that
were unexpected but which made the trip so special. I
am going to send some photos s |

HI there, just to let you know that I arrived
back safetly on Thursday and want to thank you for an
enlightening stay at the retreat. I arrived back to London
and now just slowly adjusting to daily life and that I
miss you! I felt very different when I arrived back home,
much happier inside myself with my daily routine and work
to follow my pathway truthfully and to stay vital and
balanced. I could write pages about my stay at the retreat,
but i wont overwhwelm you! Your are very holy and divine
people and I was very honoured to meet you. You have a
very special place in my heart.I connected very well with
the yoga teacher and talked about returning to do teacher
training course perhaps the same time next year or hopefully
earlier. He gave me all the guidance I was looking for
and has given me some text books to read and study. I
would very much like to return and study with him and
visit, help your parents at the same time. Visiting the
temples was very cleansing andand I shall really miss
going to the temples, taking my shoes off and walking
bare foot into beautiful serene, sacred holy places was
something I will treasure and miss. I will also miss Rekha,
she is very beautiful and every day she amazed me. I hope
that through the work that I do, running projects for
children in community, I would very much like to do some
work in India to help underprivledged areas with activities
in sports, dance, martial arts. I think we could do some
really good work to help others. I am grateful to god
that I visisted India, it is a very pure and holy place
and I pray that it stays that way. i am grateful to you
for getting me there. The one big lesson i did learn from
my stay was that i have to eliminate negative thought
pattern and action from my mind, like a duty as it wrecks
the mind and causes me pain. I now have 5 pictures already
framed on my wall in various parts of my house of the
Hindu gods, Lakshmi, Ginesha and Saraswati! |

Now I must write to you. It has taken this
long because I haven't quite known how to express my feelings
about my experiences at the Ayurveda Retreat. First, let
me say that in the most positive and beneficial manner
those 5 weeks have changed my life. In part this is due
to the immense impact of southern India itself. The intense
beauty of the hill country was a constant source of inspiration
to me. April in the Nilgiri Hills was exquisite, with
purple, orange, red, magenta and white blossoms wreathing
the tree tops, the stately Eucalyptus, the glossy emerald
tea bushes rolling away mile by mile... the tremendous
white thunderheads, lightning, and slashing rain, quickly
followed by blue sky and hot sun. The narrow red-dirt
paths twisting all around, up and down, the many hills,
each beaconing one to walk along it and discover something
new and realizing there is no level ground in the hill
country. Along with the geography, the Indian people that
I met equally impacted me. As a westerner, I found all
to have a gentleness about them as well as a generous
spirit. Many walks through the surrounding villages brought
me many encounters with the men, women and children who
live there. Often, just observing how they are living
their lives led to learning so much about myself. The
Retreat itself had an even greater impact on me, though
I cannot separate the Retreat from the Nilgiri Hills.
Upon arrival in India, the first words I heard at the
hotel in Mumbai were via a phone call from your father:
"Welcome Home!" From that warm welcome I did indeed feel
at home and with family. I came to love your parents and
each member of the staff, from Doctor G. to Subha. Every
person taught me many important things both directly and
indirectly. Your mother and father truly watched over
all of us, through thick and thin! The sharing about Indian
culture and traditions, the cooking lessons, the trips
out to special places.... always I felt we were cared
about and cared for. Watching the sunrise each morning,
experiencing serenity and quiet, gave each day the perfect
start. An hour of yoga and a half hour of meditation gave
focus to the unfolding day. The yoga teacher is a "teacher"
in the best sense of the word. He teaches, guides, and
inspires and the devotional aspect of Hatha yoga is a
missing part of much western yoga practice. You have an
extremely fine person as yoga instructor. The Doctor is
really amazing. His heart felt concern and his amazing
expertise in Ayervedic medicine continually inspired me.
I learned so much about my own health and experienced
a true clearing out and reenergization. Every afternoon,
Dr. G would meet with us to explain Ayurvedic philosophy,
practices, and traditions and would answer all our questions
-- which were endless! Do try and keep this good doctor.
I would think he would be in high demand! Now, and just
for now, I must close. I will write you more. I will tell
you about the treatment staff, the housekeeping staff,
the "chefs", the gardener, and, not least, Krishna! All
was wonderful for me and I am very thankful for the experience.
Most telling perhaps is the fact that I have brought these
new experiences home and have made them part of our daily
life. Many thanks |
