 Minimum criteria for trainee induction to Ayurveda courses

  • Age of 18 years and above
  • Education – High school, college, etc.
  • Should be physically and mentally fit
  • Proficiency in English - Reading & Writing required
  • No restriction of nationality, religion or race

 Important Notes

  • Students are encouraged to discuss Ayurveda even after classes with the Guru
  • Do not try to diagnose guests at the retreat
  • Please follow all posted rules and regulations and please take notes in the classroom
  • Students who violate rules and regulations will be asked to leave without any refund
  • Please apply for visitor visa

 Daily Schedule or Typical day (subject to change)

  • Course Theory : 9 AM to 12 Noon in the Ayurveda Class Room
  • Practicals : 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
Students are also required to attend
  • Yoga Class : 6.30 - 7.30 AM
  • Weight Loss Yoga Class : 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM
  • Meditation : 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
  • Self-Study : Recommended 2-3 Hours per day

Students must come prepared to the classroom by completing their daily reading assignments as directed by the Guru from the prescribed text books.
Questions may be asked on the assigned readings and discussions are encouraged. Please speak with the guru for more information.

 Notes upon confirmation of your requested training course

  • NO migration or CHANGES to another course or treatment plan is allowed
  • Certification is given upon passing the theory exams and Completing the internship satisfactorily while exhibiting good conduct and attitude throughout their stay

 Things to Bring

  • 2 Passport size photos
  • 2 Xerox copies of passport and visa
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Loose, comfortable casual clothes, Towel
  • Yoga clothes
  • Warm shawl/wrap
  • Slip-on shoes or slippers for indoors (flip-flops) – outside shoes are taken off in classrooms
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Sun wear - hat, sun block, sunglasses, breathable long-sleeved shirts, Warm Jacket, Umberlla, Flashlight
  • Any medications that you are taking including allergy medication

 Books on Ayurveda

  • Textbook of Ayurveda by Dr. Vasant Lad
  • Encyclopedia of Ayurveda
  • Ayurvedic Massage by Dr. John Douillard
  • Chikitsa Sangraham
  • Caraka Samhita (Principles of Ancient Ayurveda Manuscript)
These books are available with the guru but must be returned at the end of the course without fail, except the Text book of Ayurveda, it is yours to keep.


Term Description
Techniques Includes asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, and meditation. Hours in this category include both training in the techniques and its practice
Teaching Methodology Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher and the student's process of learning
Anatomy and Physiology Includes both physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and astral/energy/subtle anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.)
Philosophy/Ethics/Lifestyle Study of yoga scriptures (Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, etc.), ethics for yoga teachers, 'living the life of the yogi', etc.
Practicum Includes student teaching as well as observing and assisting in classes taught by others. Hours are a combination of supervised and unsupervised
Balance of hours Balance of hours is drawn from the above categories
Contact Hours
(1 hour = 60 minutes)
Contact hours are the hours the teacher trainer is physically present before students while lecturing a topic. Non-contact hours can include assigned reading or other homework, non-supervised study groups, attending and observing yoga classes, etc.
